Blog Entry: Joseph Attends Methodist Meetings (1828) Shortly after the loss by Martin Harris of the 116 translated pages, the Prophet returned to Harmony where he was forced to do some farming for his livelihood. During this period he attended some Methodist meetings with Emma, possibly to improve relations with the Hales. It was reported that he even asked to be enrolled as a class member, but a cousin of Emma's, Joseph Lewis, vehemently objected to the inclusion of a practicing necromancer. Although the prophet remained on the rolls for several months we find little evidence that Joseph placed much stock in his attendance or even attended very often. He certainly remembered what the Lord had told him about all other churches but he had not yet been told to organize the Restored Church.
